The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) and CSIR-National Physical Laboratory (NPL) have signed an agreement to develop a NavIC-based Primary Reference Time Clock (PRTC) for the telecom sector in India. The project aims to provide Indian Standard Time (IST) traceability to telecom service providers and internet service providers. This will reduce dependency on GPS, enhance cybersecurity, synchronize telecom services, and improve the quality of life in India. The collaboration highlights the potential of Indian R&D and supports the vision of "Atmanirbhar Bharat" (self-reliant India).
