The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) has introduced anti-discrimination guidelines for all students, which it describes as integral to maintaining high inclusivity and equal opportunities at the campus. As part of the guidelines known as ‘Anti-discrimination guidelines at IIT Bombay,’ students are prohibited from asking about a person’s social status, birth category, or caste, and advised to interact, bond, and engage through school, college, sports, music, hobbies, movies, and commonalities. Violation of the rules can lead to severe punishment, including online or in-person messages, jokes, sexism, casteism, or bullying.
